Android 5.0 aka Jelly Bean to Launch in Q2 2012 ?

by VISHAL GAIKAR - on Feb 17th 2012 - No Comments

DigiTimes is hardly the most reliable source, they often said that information proved false.Nevertheless, it remains interesting to talk about the next major update of Android,  Android 5.0 aka Jelly Bean which we do not know much.

The version of Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich, available since November 2011, was used primarily to unify the development of smartphone interfaces, tablet, television connected and embedded system. An important step in the evolution of eco-system, Google took the opportunity to get rid of physical buttons that were mandatory in previous versions and introduced a much more complete interface than the last.

With  Android 5.0 aka Jelly Bean, Google could improve “tablet” and T.V experience. Information quite likely, Eric Schmidt announced a tablet “quality” would be announced during the first half of 2012, a Tablet Phone. This could be a standard model, as the Nexus range.

According to the Taiwanese source:

Android 5.0 will be further optimized for tablet PCs, while Google will also integrate its Chrome system functions to push dual-operating system designs. Brand vendors can either choose to adopt only Android 5.0 or add Android 5.0 to Windows 8 devices with the ability to switch between the two OSes without the need to shut down the computer.

Other information less likely, Google would prepare a dual-boot system to accommodate on a tablet, Android 5.0 and Windows 8.  Google could therefore anticipate the arrival of Windows 8 on the shelves, Microsoft really wish to land in the market for tablet interface and compatibility ARM Metro.

In short, as I have said, DigiTimes sources are not the most reliable but it allows us to reflect on further developments of Android. Google has used at frequencies of updates very short. Google 4.0 was announced in October 2011, Google 5.0 could be announced this summer, less than 12 months between two major versions of Android. What worries give to builders who have a hard time updating their latest models of smartphones and tablets.

Only Motorola Xoom and the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime had the right to update their Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s painful, I know. I think Google will include Chrome OS elements in Jelly Bean and there is no other details available about this and we have to wait and watch. Being android will bring more news about Android Jelly Bean, stay tuned.
